Callyx was a promising young man with a future.
He always loved helping others for as long as he can remember, and underwent schooling so he could become a veterinarian. A kind-hearted man who loved animals and would spare tears for the animals who he couldn’t save, always trying his best even when things seemed so grim.
When he had been in high school, he used to be a bit of a delinquent and had taken down people who were being awful people/knows how to fight. It carried on into his older years, with an edge of a temper and someone who would escalate to violence if the situation called for it but it didn't mean he was any less of a good person at heart.
No matter how good a person one was, though? At the age of 24? Callyx had been unable to prevent the accident that caused the death of his single mother and girlfriend of five years, and he fell into a depression spiral. That’s when the followers of The Healing Mother found him. They praised her so highly, spoke of how wonderful her divinity was. He was at such a low point that he felt he didn’t have much else to lose and went along with the followers.
Once there, after some time, Callyx found that maybe this could be his new purpose. He had some initial reservations but went ahead and took The Healing Mother’s vow, referring to his experience with caring for others (and animals) in search of a place he could belong. To his surprise, she approved of him and granted him divinity.
The process knocked him out but when he awoke again? He was a changed man.
He was still kind, stalwart and brilliant, but the mental pain that plagued him was gone. No longer did he find the need to want to hurt anyone, to the point at times he seems like a pushover but he just doesn’t feel the need to hurt anybody, choosing to now use his words to help soothe any arguments. The most notable thing came in the form of being gifted healing magic via The Healing Mother’s Divinity that had been given to him, which he now used to help those who were sick or injured.
This resulted within the organization/order now holding him in high regard and he ended up taking on the job as a ‘nurse’ of sorts. He’d been given a second chance and was grateful… and in time there was once someone he passed on the street with a friend, and they looked unwell. He tried to assist, but… they were beyond anything he could help with. Though his friend seemed to fret and was about to call for help to get them to the hospital?
Callyx just smiled and whipped out a switchblade he carried in a pocket and slit this person’s throat. There. Now this person will no longer have to suffer.
So in exchange for becoming more nurturing and easing the pain of others, he no longer sees it as necessary to care much for himself anymore. Of course, he’ll still eat, keep himself presentable and in good health but… what does the rest of it matter when he needs to take care of those hurt and in pain.
You see? To become The Healing Mother’s Chosen also means that any existing traumas or issues that bothered them? They no longer exist in their minds. In Callyx’s case? He remembers ‘being told’ that his mother died in childbirth and he’s never met this mystery person people claimed to be his girlfriend.

- Cannot be affected by alcohol easily due to an extremely high tolerance.
- Is able to make people feel a little better just by coming in contact with him.
